Matt graduated from UMass Amherst with a sport management degree. He spent many years working at Mullins Center, where the UMass DI hockey and basketball teams play.

Shortly after, Matt found a job as a part-time intramural sports director at Mount Ida College in Newton, MA. Matt was able to carve a path in athletics through this position.

After Mt. Ida College made the jump from junior college athletics to DIII athletics, Matt stayed at the college. From athletics recruiting coordinator to assistant AD, Matt worked in various roles. Eventually, he took over the AD role at Mt. Ida until they shut down operations in 2018.

A few months later, Matt was offered the AD position at Fitchburg State and has been there ever since.
