Erin Quinn's Philosophy

Leadership (as Erin synthesizes) is an inside-out approach. Leadership is not something you’re doing to other people; it starts with self-awareness and self-regulation - which iterates over time.
"I can’t just leave my position and work on self-awareness, so it’s an ongoing and ever-changing process. I must know my own strengths and weaknesses, where your challenges are and where you do well. Self-regulation to keep downfalls in check and work on them.

In order to be a good leader, Erin believes one needs to understand psychology and physiology to react in the proper way. "If you’re unaware and don’t self-regulate, you’re yelling and doing damage based on how you react."
One way Erin works to accomplish this is through mindfulness practices with meditations and regulating his thoughts and breathing.

"Social awareness is another component that is important to leaders – having the ability to read a room, manage your own emotions but also relationships with all the players (coaches) on the team."

As Erin succinctly put it, "it’s a circle where you’re working on all of these things at once."
