Dana Garfield's Philosophy

Dana described her philosophy as taking a little bit from a lot of different people. She felt as though she had some good leaders but not great. To her, there was room to improve and be better than those who came before her.
As a coach, Dana explained how she was often rigid and inflexible. "If you're not five minutes early, you’re late in my book. Now as an AD ,I lead with more empathy and compassion and I'm not so quick to say no. I find I am more eager to look for a way to say yes, to exploring other pathways."

Collaboration is very important to Dana and her staff at JWU. She strives to have young coaches and older coaches mixing their experiences and trying to learn from each other.
